Biography

Sergei Lvovich Krivtsov is an animalier sculptor, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and a member of the Moscow Union of Artists.

Born on 28 May 1975 in Moscow. He graduated from the Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry, studying under Professor and Academician A. N. Burganov. His mentor in animal sculpture was Andrei Marts, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts.

His work “Sad Puppy”, recommended by Academician V. E. Tsigal, was accepted into the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery. His sculpture “Bull Terrier” is in the collection of the State Darwin Museum. The artist’s works are also held in private collections in Russia, Finland and the USA.

Since 2012 he has taught at the Sergei Andriaka Academy of Watercolour and Fine Arts, where he developed the original course “Foundations of Animalier Sculpture”.

An exhibiting artist since 1995, including the “Unique Russia” exhibition (2021). His work was featured in the journal “Secreta Artis” (No. 3, 2019). In 2022 he was awarded the Medal of the Federal Customs Service of Russia “For Strengthening Customs Cooperation”.

Sergei works in the classical technique: the image is born in plasticine and then cast in bronze. The master’s central theme is the animal at the moment of utmost tension — in a struggle whose outcome is still undecided. It is precisely this uncertainty, the sculptor says, that brings a composition to life.

He also teaches at the “Sirius” Educational Centre.
